Technical backstopping: Reviewing local strategies and plans on Renewable Energy and Climate resilience for Local Government Authorities

On 2nd and 3rd May 2018, Climate action Network Tanzania conducted a facilitation workshop to review existing and develop local strategies and plans on Renewable Energy, climate resilience and poverty reduction for Local Government Authorities. This facilitation workshop is part of the technical backstopping to be provided to village and district officer to review existing local strategies and plans for 100% RE, poverty reduction and climate resilience.
A total of 9 officers from 3 district of Chalinze, Lushoto and Pangani, 3 CSOs representatives, 3 village leaders and 3 extension workers from 3 villages Kihangaiko (Chalinze), Mwangoi (Lushoto) and Pangani Mashariki (Pangani) attended and participated in this session. Also, representatives from 3 ministries of agriculture (environmental department), Energy (Renewable energy section) and ministry of Works, Transport and Communications (Meteorological Agency), facilitated the session. The session also involved 4 media houses on the facilitation proceedings and thereafter disseminating what transpired in the session using television, radio and newspaper.
The session was officiated by Honorable Eng. Zena Said, Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS) from the Tanga Regional Commissioner’ s office.

    The workshop was good organized and for sure we got the huge understanding on the climate change and the ways of combating with the effects of environment change in our areas.

    Special thanks to CAN TZ for a well organized workshop which join various idea from participants from Lushoto, Pangani and Chalinze
    We, Pangani District Council members as a first time to know in details the project objectives and actually what others are doing, we pledge to implement our plans as presented at Tanga Mkonge Workshop.
