On implementation of UNDP funded project “Participatory and Inclusive Planning and Implementation: A Capacity Enhancement Approach for Community resilience & sustainable development in Western Kilimanjaro-Lake Natron ecosystem”, Climate Action Network Tanzania organized a two-week field trip to Longido district to implement several project activities from 10th to 23rd February 2019. The coverage was on ecosystem (community) based adaptation (EBA) training, Participatory Integrated Climate Services for the Community (PICSCO) training, public dialogue and review of National Five Years Development Plan for the years 2016/2017 – 2020/2021 (NFYDP II) and Agriculture Climate Resilience Plan (ACRP) 2014 – 2019. 197 village group representatives of small holder farmers, pastoralists and small entrepreneur businesses including women, men and youth participated in the PICSCO training. 176 village leaders, farmers, pastoralists, extension workers, CSOs and FBOs participated for the EBA training. 76 participants including district council, district executive director, ward councilors, extension workers, district officials, village group representatives, village leaders CSOs and FBOs attended the review of NFYDP II (2016/2017 – 2020/2021) while 184 members of village assembly from both villages of Ildonyo and Olmolog separately attended and participated fully in the public dialogue assembly and discussions.
