From 5th to 12th May 2019 two CAN TZ staff members went to the villages Olmolog and Ildonyo in Longido district to conduct an activity of the “Community resilience and sustainable development in western Kilimanjaro Lake Natron ecosystem” project. The major tasks planned and successfully accomplished under this field work were:
- mobilizing and enhancing community income generating groups
- training on innovative approaches for alternative Income Generating Activities (IGAs)
- conducting gender equality and women empowerment on climate smart actions and natural ecosystems management and use
- developing a village strategy with a focus on biodiversity conservation, environmental issues and its sustainable management.
The achievement of this activity in the field has been a result of great cooperation between CAN TZ project officers, the good office of Longido district Executive director, village councils with their extension officers, local leaders and the community in general. This spirit/approach has been useful while simplifying the implementation of the project in the two villages.
