Period of the project
September 2017 to August 2020
The climate-induced adverse impacts in Tanzania are not uniformly affecting the communities, individuals and sectors. Some are more affected than others, including smallholder farmers, pastoralists, women and rural communities. So far they are poorly protected by existing policies. Their situation is likely to worsen due to low adaptive capacities, unreliable climate services, poor livelihood diversification approaches and increasing exposure of their livelihood activities to current and future shocks. Therefore the project aims at promoting innovative solutions such as Participatory Integrated Climate Services for Agriculture and Fisheries (PICSAF) and enhancing national debates and consensus on the use of 100% renewable energy for improved livelihood options and climate resilience building. In the whole process, CAN Tanzania will facilitate the training, awareness raising and ensuring monitoring and evaluation to extension workers, CSOs and end users.
The project will also contribute to enhance coordination among CSOs and other stakeholders in selected 3 districts and at a national level, to influence political processes and promote the implementation of a 100% Renewable Energy Initiative across sectors and levels.

The project intends to target environmental CSOs, communities (farmers, pastoralists and fisheries), government officers at ministry levels, academia, CAN Tanzania and CSO/FBO members in general
