Helen Herbst is a German environmental engineer volunteering at CAN Tanzania for 1 year through the "weltwärts" exchange program. Specialising in environmental monitoring, coastal protection, and energy engineering, she currently supports CAN's research team and is particularly interested in livelihood adaptations and nature-based solutions. Helen strongly believes that tackling climate change requires international cooperation, as environmental issues don't stop at national borders. She is convinced that there is always a lot to learn when countries share their different experiences. That’s why she decided to take a gap year to study Tanzania's climate change perspective before writing her Master's thesis at the Technical University of Braunschweig.
