Strengthening Tanzania’s Climate Diplomacy: Wajibika Programme
Through this consultancy under the Wajibika programme, CAN Tanzania is strengthening Tanzania’s readiness and negotiation capacity for COP30, ensuring that national delegates and the wider Africa Group are supported with timely technical inputs from expert civil society organizations (CSOs). The work will enhance coordination between CSOs and the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania (URT), particularly through close collaboration with the Vice President’s Office, before, during, and after COP30. Key milestones include convening a Pre-COP30 National Dialogue and tailored responsive support during COP30, positioning Tanzania to engage more strategically and effectively in global climate negotiations.
CAN Tanzania will facilitate inclusive stakeholder engagement by establishing platforms to strengthen policy coherence and participatory climate governance, while contributing technical support to the drafting of NDC 3.0.
CAN Tanzania will also convene a Post-COP30 debrief and policy dialogue to ensure that global outcomes are translated into tangible next steps, creating sustained momentum and reinforcing accountability, coordination, and long-term climate action in Tanzania.
