To celebrate World Environment Day (WED) 2026, CAN Tanzania worked with schools and communities in Chuini and Tumbatu to raise awareness on waste management, strengthen environmental stewardship, and restore mangroves.

CAN Tanzania, in collaboration with the First Vice President’s Office (FVPO), is supporting community-led mangrove restoration in Tumbatu, helping to strengthen coastal resilience by protecting shorelines, restoring ecosystems, and sustaining local livelihoods.

As the National Climate Change Response Strategy (2021–2026) approaches its final year, the Vice President's Office, in collaboration with Climate Action Network (CAN) Tanzania, convened a two-day national technical session (12–13 March 2026) to review data and sectoral information assessing the implementation status of the strategy.

On 16th–17th February 2026, CAN Tanzania and partners convened representatives from CSOs, youth and women-led organizations, and government institutions in Dar es Salaam to unpack global climate decisions made at COP30 in Belem and align them with Tanzania’s national and community priorities.
