Maryrose Batenga is a climate change expert, currently a Project Coordinator (Health and Climate) at Climate Action Network Tanzania (CAN-Tanzania). Her passion for climate change pushed her to join the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group to support the Dar es Salaam City Council in the preparations of its first Climate Action Plan (CAP) in 2019. She was involved in the process of compiling, reporting and updating for Dar es Salaam GHG Inventory and the city’s GHG inventory management system for the year 2016 to 2019.
Maryrose is also part of the National GHG inventory compilation team under the Vice President’s Office (VPO) and National Carbon Monitoring Centre (NCMC). Recently, she has been coordinating projects which link health issues and climate change at CAN Tanzania for instance the INSECT project which intends to integrate Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights into national policies and strategies in Tanzania.
