Community-led Nature-Based Solutions, The PRO-NDC Journey

MAY 05, 2025

CAN Tanzania and the University of Oldenburg have conducted a "Promoting participatory and ambitious NDC implementation through nature-based solutions in urban, rural and coastal landscapes of Tanzania" (PRO-NDC-ACT) project since January 2022 in Same and Pangani Districts. This initiative has successfully united communities to restore degraded forests through nature-based solutions like reforestation, FMNR, and climate-smart agriculture. The project has empowered local leaders and youth to take ownership of their landscapes, improve livelihoods, and build resilience against climate threats by equipping local leaders and youth with practical knowledge and tools. These success stories capture the passion, dedication, and tangible progress made possible when communities are at the forefront of climate action, illustrating how grassroots initiatives can drive meaningful, lasting change for people and the planet.
